The new mural on the water tank in Jupiter Park in Venus Bay is taking shape. The story so far…a partnership developed with Bird Life Australia, Friends of Venus Bay Peninsular, South Gippsland Shire and Venus Bay Community Centre to refresh the mural on the water tank in Venus Bay.

Expressions of Interests were sought, and Venus Bay artist Amanda Diamond was chosen as the artist for the project. Venus Bay Community Centre are funding the artists fees, South Gippsland Shire are contributing funds to provide materials and expertise and support has been provided by Friends of Venus Bay Peninsular and Bird Life Australia for the project.

And so it began…the old mural has been photographed and documented.

The CFA helped to clean the tank as part of the their training exercise; it was great to see the CFA team in action. Captain Mick Moore said it was a great exercise; the team practised as if it were a house on fire, using the (very) high pressure hose on their new truck; it took two people to hang on to the hose!

Once the water tank painting is complete, there will be signage erected near the tank documenting the project, the birds and their habitat and the history of the tank.
