Zine Making Project
Workshop dates

August 12th 10.00 - 11.00
August 19th 10.00 - 11.00

This art project is designed to encourage members of rural communities to create little magazine (zines) exploring the benefits of living in the country and the opportunities for improvement.

You will have the opportunity to also submit your Zine into the competition and exhibition in Bendigo where there will be a range of people’s choice awards of up to $250 based on the following categories:

Artistic merit, Insightful thoughts, Beautiful words & Overall incredible

The Theme is:  ‘How does living in <INSERT YOUR TOWN HERE> make you happy and healthy and what would make it better?’

Creating zines is a fun way to start thinking about the assets and opportunities in a community in a way that is appealing to all ages, diversities and skill levels. You don’t need to have amazing art skills, you can just use pictures cut from magazines. The project is aiming to produce a visual feast of ideas that hopefully spark enthusiasm and ideas.

We are encouraging locals to:

*Create a zine celebrating their own local place, perhaps you could encourage a ‘group’ or ‘family’ entry

Venus Bay Community Centre will:

*Provide templates if you need one

*Facilitate TWO Zine creating workshops on the 12th and 19th of August

*Photocopy and scan your Zine so it can be printed or sent as a PDF to the "Exhibition of Ideas" organisers in Bendigo.

*Hold a local exhibition of Zines (if there is enough interest)
