Community Meals
Grow Share Eat program
Meal sharing sits at the heart of the Grow Share Eat program, bringing people together around good food, shared stories and connection.
Community Meals, Grown Locally
Our much‑loved Wednesday Community Lunches continue to be a key part of life at the Venus Bay Community Centre.
As the program grows, these meals will increasingly feature homegrown produce and preserves sourced through the grow and forage aspects, celebrating local food and the people who grow it.
New Wednesday Evening Meals
From 2026, we are excited to introduce a new Wednesday evening meal, beginning twice a month we are now offering a Community Meal on the Second Wednesday at the Community Centre in Venus Bay and on the last Wednesday of the month we are offering a Community Meal at the Tarwin Lower Memorial Hall.
These meals are about inclusion, nourishment and connection — a welcoming place to share a meal together at the end of the day. For some it is envisioned that this is a way to also alleviate some of the current cost of living pressures.
More Than Just a Meal
Our meal‑sharing program is built on collaboration — bringing together growers, cooks, volunteers and community members using shared spaces and shared skills. Whether you help prepare food, contribute produce, or simply come along to enjoy a meal, you are part of strengthening local connections and ensuring good food is accessible to all.
Meal sharing through the Grow Share Eat program is about generosity, dignity and belonging — growing food, cooking together, and feeding one another as a community.
As part of the program we also have available take away meals - if you would like to offer a friend a free meal come in and have a chat to staff at the Community Centre.
All welcome - we welcome volunteers before, during and after the meals.
